Post-knee arthroscopy exercises

December 11, 2014

Following a knee arthroscopy you should perform gentle exercises to get your knee moving. You can do these exercises laying on a flat surface.

  1. exercise one: tense thigh muscle and hold for five seconds
  2. exercise two: contract thigh muscles and lift leg
  3. exercise three: gentle knee bends
  4. exercise four: knee extensions with a rolled up towel under the middle of your thigh for support.

Three to four days after your arthroscopy you can perform an additional exercise which involves sitting up with your leg hanging over edge of bed and then extending the leg outwards. Please watch the video to see the techniques used for each exercise. Also see our post-knee arthroscopy instructions for more information.
