How long have you been doing Crossfit?

I’ve been doing CROSFFIT for almost 4 years now with Lori and Lee KLEIN of CROSSFIT SUNSHINE COAST – Caloundra.

Tell us a bit about the Crossfit Games and where are you ranked in the world?

The Crossfit Games is the coming together of the worldwide Crossfit community, competition style! Athletes compete on a worldwide scale which is also broken down into their specific Regions and/or age divisions.

The worldwide Open leads into 17 Regions worldwide. From there, athletes continue to compete to qualify for their Regional competition, which is the semi-final to the Crossfit Games held in Carson, CA.

This part of the Crossfit Games season is 5 weeks. The top three female/male/team athletes from each Regional, qualify to compete at the Crossfit Games in CA.

The Top 20 Masters athletes from each Masters division WORLDWIDE, immediately qualify to compete at the Crossfit Games in CA.

A new Masters division was created in January 2013 for 40-44yrs which I automatically went into. After the Opens had closed, I ranked 22 worldwide in my respective Masters division.

How much can you squat/snatch/clean and jerk?

FS – 105kg
BS – 122.5kg
SNATCH – 58.5kg
C&J – 75kg

Worst injury and when?

Snapped both the ulna & radius o my left forearm, clean in half at a local Crossfit competition doing box jumps in Aug 2012. Requiring a week hospitalisation, two surgeries, screws and plates.

Favourite food?

Favourite food is Thai but that’s a treat. My diet basically consists of chicken/lamb/beef with salads/vegetables, eggs, fish, some fruit and nuts.

How much training do you do and how do you keep motivated?

I train about 5-6 times a week and my motivation is the great feeling I get from being committed to maintaining my health and well being at a high standard. I want to be a good role model for my children and family and friends.

Favourite crossfit workout or WOD.

My favourite WOD would have to be “Fran”. 21-15-9 reps each of 30kg thrusters and pull-ups. It makes me feel alive and burns me to the core!

Most inspiring person?

I don’t have one particular person who inspires me. It’s more so the older athletes, in all sports. They get out there and give everything they have despite their age or ailment and aren’t afraid of being judged. They inspire me most.

What is your favourite way to relax?

Favourite way to relax is sitting down by the ocean reading a book or just being.
